The process of creating magnetic business cards is much the same as a traditional one. We take a design and transfer it to the printing press using proprietary software. The only difference is that we use offset printing instead of normal printing.
Offset is where the image is added to a plate, just like standard printing. But rather than printing directly on to the material, there is a rubber sheet placed between the plate and the material. This is where the term “offset” comes from. The plate, then the image is placed onto the rubber, then the rubber mat is rolled onto the material, imprinting it.
This method of printing allows us to use a diverse set of materials for printing onto, in this case magnetic vinyl. It enables us to imprint using a roller, but not having to bend the material. Ideal for when we print onto stiff or brittle objects.
